Safety is our number one concern. Sunfish Solar Inc always hires independent electrical contractors to complete electrical work. This is an important step. Sunfish Solar is required to take a non branch circuit Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) permit out. This permit is required to install the solar panels on a roof or the ground. Then in coordination with a certified electrician we install and pass the 2 electrical inspections. ESA then sends us both the certificate of acceptance for each permit. ESA is the governing body for Safety in Ontario and is the first and last authority is safe solar installations. Memberships in solar organizations  is not a qualification for an electrical contractor nor have any standing with ESA. Be careful relying on these qualifications as they hold no weight with ESA. I recognize the importance of knowledgable solar installers and courses which train installers can be a useful tool to have. Consulting with electricians, ESA inspectors, solar equipment workshops and experience are the tools I use. Greg Lougheed.
